Shannon and Andrew’s Wildcat Cliffs Country Club Destination Wedding in Highlands, North Carolina

Weddings are part of an industry that is inherently happy (well, more so when a pandemic is not in our midst!). Friends always want to hear more about the events we plan, and family members eagerly await details after celebrations come to a close. As enjoyable as it is to relive the weddings we plan with friends and family, there’s something even more special about our worlds officially colliding.

As our couples were postponing, rescheduling, and re-planning their wedding days last year, our hearts were focused on one couple and one wedding in particular — Shannon and Andrew’s celebration at Wildcat Cliffs Country Club. All of our couples are special to us, but Shannon and Andrew take things up a notch because they happen to be Lauren’s cousins. So, when S+A postponed their wedding not once, not twice, but THREE times, we were all experiencing the same mixture of disappointment mixed with hope that the wait would be worth it. And, we’re happy to report it was.

Shannon and Andrew began their wedding day the same as our other couples — they each got ready with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. However, what made Shannon and Andrew’s day a little more special was their wedding’s location. Both Lauren and Shannon have family ties and a host of memories in Highlands, North Carolina — a quick 2.5-hour drive for us from Atlanta — and the mountain destination was where S+A chose to celebrate their wedding day. Also, a special bonus for Shannon and Andrew was they able to share their first look on the outlook and deck of Lauren’s parents’ home — what a moment!

Not only was the sun brightly shining during Shannon and Andrew’s first look, but the picture-perfect weather continued for the couple’s wedding ceremony at Wildcat Cliffs Country Club. The mountain views (and glorious weather!) are what make Highlands such an incredible spot for a destination wedding, so an outdoor ceremony where the views could be on display was a must. After the vows, everyone mingled together with the bride and groom during cocktail hour. Then, once the reception was ready to begin, guests migrated to the reception space for dinner, speeches, and plenty of dancing.

There were countless special moments about Shannon and Andrew’s wedding, and one of them was watching Lauren and her family savor the day as they finally got to celebrate their marriage with all their family and friends.  Cathy served as an incredible coordinator, and she was also able to team up with the wedding professionals we love who call Highlands home. Cathy is loved by all of our couples, and it wasn’t a surprise to watch as she quickly became one of Shannon and Andrew’s favorite people. Needless to say, Cathy is invaluable!

Lauren and Cathy were the best day of coordinators! They truly went above and beyond just the day of by helping us with vendor recommendations, rescheduling multiple times due to COVID, and coordinating the timeline. They made us feel totally comfortable and we knew without a doubt they had everything under control, which was such a relief on the day of. We could totally focus on having the best time ever. I highly recommend using them if you want a flawless wedding!

We could talk (and write) about Shannon and Andrew’s wedding day endlessly, but we’ll leave you with this: Coordinating a wedding for your family can be the absolute best experience, and S+A’s day was a wonderful example we won’t soon forget.
