Cullasaja Club Highlands North Carolina Outdoor Destination Wedding | Jennifer + Blake

If you’ve ever visited Highlands, North Carolina, you know it’s such a special place. Our team loves to take any and every excuse to visit with family and friends, and it’s always extra special when we meet a couple who loves this destination as much as we do. Jennifer and Blake are one such pair.

We first met J+B because we all live in Smyrna, Georgia. They knew they wanted to get married in Highlands, but they also knew they wanted to work with a local planner to pull their dream wedding together. And, I’m so happy we all found each other!

Cullasaja Club acted as the perfect venue for Jennifer and Blake. It has a beautiful golf course on site that weaves through the mountains, and its ballroom and outdoor venue spaces are as stunning as you would imagine they would be. Not to mention, Cullasaja Club has the kindest staff: We had originally planned to use indoor and outdoor spaces. But with just 36 hours until Jennifer and Blake were slated to recite their vows, we decided to switch to an entirely outdoor wedding to keep things Covid-safe. Cullasaja Club’s team was on board right away, and together we made it happen!

After the switch to an outdoor soiree, Jennifer and Blake were able to focus on simply enjoying their wedding day. They spent their mornings getting ready, and then it was time for Jennifer and her bridesmaids and her dad to share their respective first looks together. There was also just enough time to capture separate portraits of the bridesmaids with the bride and groomsmen with the groom before Jennifer and Blake’s much-anticipated ceremony.

J+B’s wedding ceremony took place outside overlooking the beautiful mountains. Sweet Stems Flower Bar accented the view with beautiful garden-inspired florals in shades of ivory and green. Because the moment when they officially became husband and wife was so important, Stephanie Hilen was on hand to live paint everything. We loved watching this piece come to life!

After the ceremony, Jennifer and Blake captured portraits together on the grounds and on the golf course. The lighting was absolutely perfect for the entire time. Guests mingled together and sipped cocktails while the final details were prepped in the reception space. Round guest tables were accented with more beautiful ivory and greenery centerpieces by Sweet Stems Flower Bar, and a long head table complete with flowers and candles was set for the wedding party. It looked stunning, especially since this became our new plan mere hours before!

Jennifer and Blake shared their first dance together, and each also danced with their parents. In between, they listened to speeches by their favorite people and dined on a menu created by Cullasaja Club. Of course, Hipshack was also at the ready to welcome everyone to the dance floor where they all stayed until the end of the night. Before Jennifer and Blake’s wedding could officially come to a close, they greeted their guests one final time during their sparkler exit.

Highlands is such a special place to us, and Jennifer and Blake’s wedding made that even more true. We are still so thrilled to have played a part for a couple who also calls Atlanta home, and we love how Once Like a Spark captured every moment.

My daughter was married on 6-11-22 in Highlands, NC. A special shoutout to Lauren Betts Perez and Just About Love Weddings for all of her help and guidance to make the day perfect. If you ever need a wedding coordinator/planner, she’s the best!
