Just About Love Vendor Favorites | Meet Lane Albers Photography

Your wedding photographer is one of the most important people you will work with on your wedding day. Like us, they’re with you from the time you’re getting ready throughout your reception—and some even stay until the end of the night to capture your wedding exit. So, it’s important that you love your photographer’s work and their personality. And we can happily say we adore both qualities (and then some!) about today’s vendor spotlight, Kayla Lane from Lane Albers Photography!

We worked with Kayla at one of our weddings in Highlands, North Carolina. From the moment we first spoke to her, we could already sense that she has a fun, spunky personality. And we were right! We were also blown away by her gorgeous photos, so we’re so thrilled for you to get to know Kayla who is from “just outside of Atlanta” (in town called Snellville, in case you’re curious!). We think you will agree that Kayla is an absolute gem.

Just About Love Weddings: Who are you and What do you love about what you do?

Lane Albers Photography: I'm Kayla, owner/lead photographer of Lane Albers Photography (I know it's funky, many people think my name is Lane and I just go with it! It's actually my middle name!) I've been a wedding photographer since 2011 and fell in love with all the amazing moments on a wedding day that I just never stopped! Believe it or not, photography has been my only profession since I was 19. I love celebrating with people and just documenting the day as it unfolds—but it's also super amazing to keep up with my past couples and photograph their growing families!

JALW: What is your favorite thing about Atlanta weddings?

LAP: I love the various, different styles of venues Atlanta and surrounding cities have to offer, but I am a BIG fan of the industrial look and feel. These venues are essentially a blank canvas, and you can make it whatever you want! It's so neat to see the different styles that reflect each unique couple's taste.

JALW: What is your favorite moment on a wedding day?

LAP: This is a tough one for me because I probably won't have the same answer as many other photographers. I LOVE the first hour or so at weddings when everyone is getting ready—it's a time for me to chit chat with the wedding party and get to know all of them, watch the couple anxiously get ready and have sentimental moments with their close friends or family members. I also obsess over the details (the invitation suite, rings, shoes, heirlooms, vow books, etc) because it helps me set the tone and pace for the wedding day. Not to mention it's a great way to open a gallery up! My other favorite part of wedding days is the reception introduction. It's so unbelievably nice to see my couples genuinely relaxed because all of the formalities are complete—now they can just ENJOY the party!

JALW: What are you most looking forward to seeing or experiencing at weddings in 2023?

LAP: New trends! I will say this each and every year! In the 12 years that I have photographed weddings, every single year has a new and improved trend. I feel that many of my 2023 couples are playing with the idea of allowing their wedding party to take a seat during the ceremony in the first or second row. This way they can actually SEE the wedding instead of the back of their best friends' heads ;) I am also looking forward to seeing a bit more color on wedding days! I think the greenery and ivory fad has had it's fair time to shine.

JALW: If you could share one piece of advice with a couple currently planning their wedding, what would it be?

LAP: Cliche—HIRE A PLANNER. It should seriously be the first thing on your to do list. Planners genuinely help with so much and have wonderful connections with professionals in the area. It can be so stressful to search for vendors directly through social platforms. Don't procrastinate on your vendors either! If you're set on a specific vendor, lock them in as soon as you can.

JALW: What is your experience or what is your favorite thing we do to help your experience on the wedding day?

LAP: Literally everything. Time efficient timeline coordination, helping gather necessary guests for photos. I'll never forget when you actually helped with family photo groupings—I've never had a planner assist like that, and it was such a time saver!

JALW: What is the best way for couples to find you and get in touch with you?

LAP: Definitely email via my contact page! Social media messages are okay for simple questions, but to set up a meeting and inquire about investment, head over to my website! | IG: @lanealbersphotography
